Njál's Saga Tapestry & Book
Own a piece of history! This tapestry sample was sewn by hand in Hvolsvöllur, Iceland. It replicates a part of a 300-foot long hand-sewn tapestry of Njáls Saga, that took 7 years to sew. The saga shows how even worthy people can destroy themselves by disputes. It is thought that the saga's events happened around the village of Hvolsvöllur. The full tapestry will be displayed at The Saga Center in Hvolsvöllur in 2025. A smaller traveling version of it will be touring in our area in our area in 2025. This tapestry sample is a gift from Hvolsvöllur, the land of Njáls Saga, to Mountain, a center of Icelandic immigration in North America. This auction item also comes with a copy of Njál's Saga, this Penguin Classics edition includes an introduction, chronology, index of characters, plot summary, explanatory notes, maps, and suggestions for further reading. 16x20
